Off Campus P.E.

In an off-campus Physical Education (PE) program focusing on Jiu-Jitsu and/or Kickboxing, you can expect to learn the following:

Jiu-Jitsu

  1. Fundamentals and Techniques:

    • Basic positions (guard, mount, side control, etc.)

    • Escapes and sweeps

    • Submissions (armbars, chokes, etc.)

    • Takedowns and throws

    • Guard passing

  2. Self-Defense:

    • Practical application of techniques for real-life self-defense situations

    • Understanding leverage and body mechanics to defend against larger opponents

  3. Physical Conditioning:

    • Improving strength, flexibility, and cardiovascular endurance

    • Developing core stability and overall body coordination

  4. Mental Discipline:

    • Enhancing focus, patience, and problem-solving skills

    • Learning to stay calm under pressure and think strategically

  5. Sparring and Rolling:

    • Applying techniques in live sparring sessions

    • Learning to adapt and respond to a resisting opponent

Kickboxing

  1. Striking Techniques:

    • Basic punches (jab, cross, hook, uppercut)

    • Basic kicks (front kick, roundhouse kick, side kick)

    • Knees and elbows

  2. Combinations and Footwork:

    • Developing effective combinations of strikes

    • Improving footwork for offense and defense

  3. Defensive Techniques:

    • Blocking, slipping, and parrying strikes

    • Learning to move and evade attacks

  4. Conditioning and Fitness:

    • High-intensity interval training to build endurance and strength

    • Enhancing speed, agility, and reflexes

  5. Sparring and Bag Work:

    • Practicing techniques on heavy bags and focus mitts

    • Engaging in controlled sparring sessions to apply learned skills

Additional Skills

  1. Respect and Sportsmanship:

    • Understanding the importance of respect for instructors, training partners, and opponents

    • Learning the values of humility, perseverance, and discipline

  2. Safety and Injury Prevention:

    • Proper warm-up and cool-down routines

    • Techniques for safe training to minimize the risk of injury

  3. Goal Setting and Progress Tracking:

    • Setting personal goals for skill improvement and fitness

    • Tracking progress through belt rankings (in Jiu-Jitsu) or other achievement markers
